Bill Christie, newly sponsored by KSE: USAC RACING
Under
the direction of 3-time National USAC champion, Jimmy Sills and owner, Murray
Erickson, preparations for the Purex Dial USAC Midget race event at Phoenix
International Raceway kicked into high gear as Bill had his first testing in
San Antonio Speedway, Texas, January 30, 31.
After a successful test on this one-half mile asphalt track, he
scheduled for a test at the Phoenix International Raceway track on February
21.
“It
was a good test,” Christie said. “It was the first time on a one-mile track,
and was definitely worth the trip. My lap times were comparable to the other
drivers and I learned a lot from Jimmy Sills and Murray Erickson. I appreciate
the opportunity to race Murray’s USAC Midget.”

Racing is sponsoring the race for Bill’s USAC Midget and also the Silver Crown
race for owner/driver, Murray Erickson. KSE provides racing parts for the

Bill Christie has won 4 championships in the past 5 years. He notched a National Championship in the BGSCA (Baby Grand Stock Car Association) in 2000. Most recently, he has been fine tuning his driving skills in a Super Truck at the Fairgrounds Speedway, Nashville, TN. “ The sprint car is a wild ride,” states Christie, “You’re driving right on the edge all the time. It’s a real opportunity for me and challenge as well.”
Practice sessions will begin Thursday, March 20 at the PIR (Phoenix International Raceway). Qualifying is Friday, March 21 and the main event on Saturday, March 22, 2003, driving the #80 USAC Sprint car. Christie will be arriving in Phoenix on Wednesday evening, along with KSE Racing Parts co-owner, Dave Moyes. “We hope to get Bill in there and practice him as much as possible. We are proud to be backing such a fine, young man as Bill Christie. Anyone would be happy to have him represent their company,” states Moyes, “Bill drives my Super Truck in Nashville, TN.”
